Our Mechanical Engineering Team in our Rolling Meadows Division is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys team work and on-going challenging projects. This position conceptualizes and designs automated equipment according to customer and internal specification and is capable of being the Mechanical Engineering Lead on small single module machine or any replication projects.
Responsibilities:
Primary Duties:
Design cam, servo, and air operated stations, and to make changes to existing designs.
Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate sortimat standards and regulatory requirements.
Research and specify appropriate materials and purchased components.
Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
To prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
Problem-solve design or detail issues and update all appropriate documentation.
Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
Assimilate well within a team and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views.
Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO9001:2008 & 13485:2003 certification requirements.
Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace.
Secondary Duties:
Contribute to the development and maintenance of sortimat internal and international standards.
Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
Support and participate in Quality Management Program.
Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery Operating Manuals.
Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements.
Keeps abreast of current product developments.
Travel or extend work day if required.
Maintain International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.
Other duties as assigned.
(Health, Safety, & Environmental):
Work in compliance with divisional Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through Lockout-Tagout methods.
Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
Report any defect in any equipment or protective device.
Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned task.
Attend all required Health, Safety, and Environmental training.
Report any accidents/incidents, including near misses to your supervisor.
Assist in investigating any accidents/incidents or near misses if requested.
Refrain from engaging in any unruly conduct.
Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner.
Ensure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety procedures.
Applies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violations.
Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risks.
Provide appropriate instruction for safe work.
Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements.
Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committee.
Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
Support activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Qualifications:
Education:
College courses in Mechanical Engineering, Technology, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
Greater than three years of automation experience.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D Solid Works, or similar CAD systems.
Equipment:
Computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Excel, Word, sortimat databases, etc.
Fax machine, copiers and printers/plotters, etc.
Inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
Exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Visual Acuity Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
Hearing Ability Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
Working Conditions The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
