Our Applications Team in our Rolling Meadows Division is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Applications Engineer who enjoys teamwork and ongoing challenging projects. The Applications Engineer performs a wide variety of technical assessments of Customers' and Markets' requirements in support of Sales and Business development activities, reviews design, performance and overall systems requirements and functional data with the engineering group; develops and prepares detailed proposals for potential and existing accounts/customers.

The role of the Applications Engineer is to work directly with our sales and management teams to develop world class automation solutions that ensure we win each and every program we quote. The Applications role has the ideal balance of both the technical and commercial aspects of our business. In this position, you will lead and participate in the following activities:
Proposal Management (similar to Project Management)
Equipment concept development based on your automation knowledge and standards developed at ATS
Development of customer relationships, representing ATS's technical capabilities to the customer
Preparing costs for multiple solutions
Proposal development
Providing input to proposal capture teams and implementing sales strategies

Responsibilities:
Responsible for conceptual development, preparation of cost model and writing detailed technical proposals for all types of automation equipment and projects.
Involves key members of engineering management in cost models and conceptual layout, in projects where technical complexity is large.
Assists engineers and other technical staff in design and development of products, systems, processes and equipment by analyzing technical problems and working closely to customer specifications.
Involves third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process, where necessary.
Travels to the customer's site to assist in project or product development, working with engineering design specifications, objectives and standards.
Provides sales presentations to customer personnel, when required.
Obtains and prepares detailed estimates of time, quantities, labor and material costs required for work areas such as; product design, testing, machine building, equipment installations and manufacturing processes.
Assembles and collects all necessary technical information and customer specifications from engineering and sales & marketing, in order to prepare detailed proposals.
Assists in special projects in support for engineering and sales and marketing.
Adequately defines scope of work in proposals to allow project manager and project team to begin work on system.
Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Maintain International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.
Other duties as assigned.
(Peripheral Duties):
Assists and attends technical seminars and industry exhibitions.
Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.
(Health, Safety, & Environmental):
Work in compliance with divisional Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through Lockout-Tagout methods.
Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
Report any defect in any equipment or protective device.
Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned task.
Attend all required Health, Safety, and Environmental training.
Report any accidents/incidents, including near misses to your supervisor.
Assist in investigating any accidents/incidents or near misses if requested.
Refrain from engaging in any unruly conduct.
Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner.
Ensure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety procedures.
Applies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violations.
Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risks.
Provide appropriate instruction for safe work.
Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements.
Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committee.
Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
Support activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial design/Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
Three years' experience in mechanical/electrical systems design and applications engineering, working knowledge of material handling, robotics, machine controls and manufacturing engineering and processes. Requires solid technical assessment and presentation skills, knowledge of preparing complex proposals and quotes.
Demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design tools such as 2D and 3D software ACAD or Solidworks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor and possible extensive travel in an aircraft including overnight stays in the United States and other countries.
Exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Visual Acuity Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
Hearing Ability Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
Working Conditions The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
